It's been a few weeks without an update (on my empty diary blog that isn't properly live and no one reads), but I've rotated into a new (more senior) role, and also had a week off.
I've got a lot of exciting ideas bouncing around in my head alongside some real world responsibilities coming up, but they should all leave me enough time to get some knitting done.
I want August and September to be hassle free, productive months of my life, with low stress and cortisol, and to that end I have created:
ARMLESS AUGUST (which is then followed by)
SLEEVY SEPTEMBER.
I do love knitting myself a jumper or so, it's a bus activity, knitting in the round and keeping myself busy while I listen to podcasts; I've never been someone marooned on sleeve island, but I have now booked a cruise around the sleeve archipelago.
I am currently in the process of knitting 12 - yes, you read it right- jumpers, all without arms, all which will develop their deterixity in September when the weather turns.
I have a couple of reasons for this
- I'm knitting things for joy, not that I will wear soon, and the relaxing of the round brings me joy
- I'm in the process of working out a few new jumper designs which will be hopefully on sale around Winter, and the arms aren't a major part of the design while I work on body shape, fabric density and structure, design, pattern, etc.
- Two of these are now Xmas presents for family, and one is a jumper for a child who has asked nicely.
And I'm doing well! I have finished the Sonja Blue Body and the White is now being worked in the round. The lilac lags behind. My Nantucket unfortunately lay in a bag neglected, but I feel inspired to get some work done on her soon - she's not a priority as she has 3 colours and is therefore Not A Bus Knit. My pride and joy at the moment is my Autumn jumper by Ozetta, being worked up in Malabrigo Chunky (in two variations, in two colours, and one of the Xmas presents).
And the bastard that really kicked this plan off - my Yellow Lakes Sunshine Bastard Jumper, now has no arms but is hemmed and I hate everything about it.
Well that isn't entirely true. I like that I've learnt a lot about working with a difficult colour (if anything, I think I should have stuck with yellow and white stripes). It's given me an idea for my next iteration (which will be a *while*) of it, and I'll not undo it, it will get arms and it will get finished and then potentially sold or raffled maybe?
Lastly, I'll be spending some time getting my act together to start recording a small library of 'how to' knitting videos, which I'll tab and make searchable.
I'm also already bored of the website's name, but I think I'm stuck with it for now. Issue for another day.
